Base 11

Welcome to Base 11!

We are a mixed class of Year 1 and 2 children  taught by two teachers; Mrs Ball and Mrs Maddock. Our teaching assistant is Mrs Harris and some children are supported by Mrs Hussain at the beginning of the week. Currently we have Miss Taylor working with us too. How lucky!

Spring Term - All About Castles.

Spring Term - All About Castles. 1
This term children in Base 11 will be learning about castles. We will also be taking a visit to an incredible castle not too far away. Our English work will involve links to fairy tale stories based in castles such as Cinderella. In maths we will be developing our multiplication and division skills, so times tables practise is crucial. We have planned a very exciting term ahead. Knights, jesters, King and Queens of Base 11....get ready!

Reading is such a crucial part of a child's primary education. Here at Randlay we love to read! In your child's reading diary, comments should be completed by a parent/carer at least four times a week.  We check diaries every Thursday. and reward raffle tickets to those children who have read at least four times. They are then entered into our 'Big Book Draw' in Friday's celebration assembly.  Happy reading!

P.E

We are lucky to have excellent PE lessons at Randlay, delivered by the Crossbar coaches.  This term our PE sessions will take place on Mondays and Fridays. The school P.E kit consists of a plain white t-shirt, navy blue or black shorts/joggers and plimsolls or trainers.  Sometimes we will have PE inside and sometimes we have PE outside. Don't forget your water bottle! You will be very active! We suggest that PE kits come into school on a Monday and return home on a Friday.

Homework

Homework is set every Friday and needs to be completed by the following Wednesday, so that it can be marked by both Mrs Ball and Mrs Maddock, the day that we are both in Base 11.

Times Tables and number bonds to 20 should also be practised. The children need to know their 2, 5 and 10 times tables.

In Base 11 we love practising our times tables to groovy tunes, whilst showing off our dance moves too. Why not take a peek at this website and practise at home too.

The children also need to know the Common Exception words for Year 1 and 2.
