Base 3 on their science walk of the local area.

We explored living things in the urban and rural areas that surround our school. How lucky we are to have both on our doorstep! Here we are pictured with the Randlay Chimney in the distance.

British Sign Language Learning.

WE                             ARE                            BASE                          3

The children have loved learning some basic sign language this term. Thank you Mrs Lloyd for being an expert in the subject. We hope to learn more with you!

Designing and making pneumatic toys.

This week, Base 3 have been creative in their design technology lessons, by designing and making pneumatic toys, linked closely to our English work about Perfect Pets. Everyone did a wonderful job. Some children even went into Base 2 to share their designs with the younger children, as the design criteria stated how the toy needed to be bright, colourful, easy to use and to interest 5 year old children. Base 2 were certainly impressed with their creations.

Celebrating Mental Health Day

We all enjoyed wearing yellow today to celebrate World Mental Health Day. In base 3, we created some Positivity mugs and enjoyed some mindfulness activities to support our well-being. It was a lovely calm afternoon.

Water colouring in the outdoors

Base 3 have completed their final art lesson of Year 3 in the beautiful surroundings of our school field; sketching then using watercolours to paint what they see. A lot of the children painted the school or the forest area. Their concentration was immense! Great creativity shown Base 3.

VE Day Celebrations

Today, we responded to a letter from an American Fighter pilot Colonel Joseph Peterburs, solved some encrypted codes and created some lovely watercolour scenes to celebrate VE Day.

Art Final Piece

Base 3 showed off their sketching skills in the final piece, based on a Viking longboat. What wonderful results!

Outdoor Learning Finale.

Today in the forest, we talked about our favourite parts of outdoor learning this term, which focused on Anglo Saxons and Vikings. We spent our session playing with our friends in the woods, as well as sipping on hot chocolate. Thank you Rachel for a fun term.

Easter scenes from Base 3

We have a lovely collection of Easter scenes building up in Base 3. We can’t wait to judge them all tomorrow.
