Welcome to Base 11!
We are a mixed class of Year 1 and 2 children taught by two teachers; Mrs Ball and Mrs Maddock. Our teaching assistant is Mrs Harris.
Space Chase the Summer Reading Challenge 2019 is an out-of-this-world adventure inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.
Children aged 4 - 11 years are being challenged to read six books to help the space family the rockets track down the books that have been nabbed by the mischievous aliens!

Reading is such a crucial part of a child's primary education. Here at Randlay we love to read! In your child's reading diary, comments should be completed by a parent/carer at least four times a week. We check diaries every Thursday. and reward raffle tickets to those children who have read at least four times. They are then entered into our 'Big Book Draw' in Friday's celebration assembly. Happy reading!
We are lucky to have excellent PE lessons at Randlay, delivered by the Crossbar coaches and class teachers. This term our PE sessions will take place on Wednesdays and Fridays. The school P.E kit consists of a plain white t-shirt, navy blue or black shorts/joggers and plimsolls or trainers. Sometimes we will have PE inside and sometimes we have PE outside. Don't forget your water bottle! You will be very active! We suggest that PE kits come into school on a Monday and return home on a Friday.
Homework is set every Friday and needs to be completed by the following Wednesday, so that it can be marked by both Mrs Ball and Mrs Maddock, the day that we are both in Base 11.
Times Tables and number bonds to 20 should also be practised. The children need to know their 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
In Base 11 we love practising our times tables to groovy tunes, whilst showing off our dance moves too. Why not take a peek at this website and practise at home too.
The children also need to know the Common Exception words for Year 1 and 2.
Please can water bottles be brought in to school each day with fresh water. Fruit will be provided for break time, however, you may send your child in with a healthy snack from home should you wish to do so.
