We are a community school and at the heart of our school, we are proud of our commitment to building positive relationships, creating an environment where care and open communication are at the heart of everything we do. Our aim is to ensure that every child and every family feels supported, understood, and valued.
Providing ‘Early Help’ to our children and families means we can be more effective in ensuring children thrive and become successful. Early help means providing support as soon as a problem emerges, at any point in a child’s life, from the Foundation Stage through to Year 6.
We recognise that family life can bring many challenges, and that at different times people may need varying levels of support. Strong communication and positive connections between home, school, and other professionals can make a real difference to a child’s wellbeing and progress. Here at our school, we encourage families to share any concerns, changes at home, or decisions that may affect their child. By working together, we can provide the right support at the right time.
To support and advise you when needed, we have an Early Help Offer. See below for details of some of the support that we can offer as well as different services we can signpost to.
Preloved uniform
We are passionate about sustainability and recycling. Therefore, we are more than happy for you to make use of the selection of preloved uniform available within our school. You are welcome to ask help yourself and also bring in any donations of clean, no longer used uniforms.
Caring and Approachable
We understand that families may need support, guidance or help at any time. A member of our pastoral leadership team is available in school every day if you would like to talk about anything or need additional support. You can contact us by phone, email, or by visiting the school office. Each day we have members of school staff available , should you wish to speak to us face to face about something, and additional members of school staff are at classroom doors each morning and evening.
Bespoke support for children 1:1 and in small groups
Our school nurture room, known as our ‘Sunshine Room ’ is a very important part of our school. It is run by our trained ELSA (Emotional and Literacy Support Assistant) Mrs Spink . This safe and calm space enables us to support children in groups and as individuals in many ways. This support can be accessed throughout the school day, and at the start and endings of days to support transition. We also have our Pastoral Lead Miss Mantle and our other ELSA, Mrs Jones who work in the Rainbow Room provision. This team can offer parental support around sleep, healthy eating, toileting and establishing positive routines.
Referrals
Referrals to Health Visitors, the School Nurse Team, Young Carers and many different agencies can be completed in school to offer support.
Early Help Assessment
As well as general Early Help in school, an Early Help Assessment can be completed by families and school staff to access external support from professionals as well as support within school.
What is an Early Help Assessment?
The assessment is a way to hear the voice of the child and family, in order to be able to identify the needs and level of support a family may need. The assessment is evidence based, and solution focused to identify positive changes needed for a family. Early Help Assessments are a way of bringing all services together in a multi-agency approach to support families. An Early Help Assessment can be complete by any professionals, and our school will always contribute to this if it comes from another setting or through a health professional.
