🕛 Booking opens at midday on Wednesday 7th January via ParentPay. Places are limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Smile4life campaign – Stirchley Dentist
The government have recently launched their Smile4life campaign to encourage all children to attend for a dental check up regularly.
It is a frightening fact that in the UK that 22.4% of 5 year old children have experienced obvious dental decay (in some of our local area’s it is 1 in 3 children) while 16.2% of 10-11 year olds have dental decay in their permanent teeth.
Tooth extraction due to decay is the most common reason for hospital admissions in children age 5-9 years who often attend hospital after weeks of pain and discomfort.
All dental examinations and treatment for children under the age of 18 are free of charge and Stirchley Dentist are working with the government to try and encourage every child in the area to attend a dentist every 6 months.

School Meal Increase – February 2026
We have been asked by the Telford and Wrekin Catering Team to share the following information with families regarding a price increase in school meals.
From February 2026 the cost of a primary school meal will increase from £2.90 to £3.05. Changes to our charges are usually introduced from April of each year; however, due to increasing cost pressures, it is necessary to bring the changes forward to February 2026. Whilst I am sure that no increase in costs will be welcomed, I hope that you continue to feel that the meals provide value for money, and I thank you for your continued support.

Our freshly prepared school meals are nutritious, great value, and offer a wide variety of choices. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will continue to receive a free school meal each day. If you currently pay for school meals but your circumstances have changed, please check your eligibility for free school meals using the link below.

Colours in the Environment
As part of our colour topic, Base 2 went on a colour hunt during their Little Explorers session this week. We looked for natural and man-made colours in our environment and talked about how the seasonal changes impact the colours we might find. We saw brown bark, soil, stones and leaves. We saw red berries and green plants.
Rocking the clock away in Music
Base 3 have been loving learning about Rock n Roll music. They also showed off some fabulous dance moves to the groovy beat!

Chinese New Year
Base 2 have been learning about Chinese New Year this week. We have talked about ‘The Great Race’ and how each year came to be named after an animal. This year is the year of the horse. We used the internet to research what the animal was the year the children were born – a tiger or an Ox. We also found out the animals for the years Miss Chetwood and Mrs Baronet were born – a dragon and a tiger. We then explored writing some Chinese numerals and making paper lanterns.
Making Rainbows
Base 2 have continued their exploration into colour by making their own rainbows out of pipe cleaners and playdough. We worked hard to try and follow the order of the rainbow colours and really worked on our perseverance when using our fine motor skills to get the pipe cleaners to stay upright in the playdough! Miss Chetwood was very proud of us!
Lunar New Year
This week we have been looking at ways that Lunar New Year is celebrated.
We have made paper lanterns, looked at Chinese symbols and copied them using inks, made and ate stir-fry and did our own dragon dance in the hall.
Kandinsky Circles
The children have been learning about the properties of two dimensional shapes. As part of this work we looked at the art work of Kandinsky, studying his work on circles. The children have then tried to replicate this in their own paintings. Look at their brilliant work below.

Base 9 had a wonderful world book day even eating a marvellous muffin in our reading cafe.

What a fantastic selection of characters came to B11 today!
World Book Day in Base 3
We have loved dressing up as our favourite book characters today in Base 3. Our teachers weren’t in today though; we were taught by Mr and Mrs Twit, up to no good as usual! 
We took part in ‘drop everything and read’ – listening out for the bell around school to then continue to read for pleasure. We created WANTED posters for book characters and designed wooden plaques in Outdoor Learning, inspired by books we love.
World Book Day in Base 10!
📚 World Book Day in Base 10! 📚
Base 10 all looked absolutely amazing in their World Book Day outfits today! We had such a wonderful range of creative costumes, from Anne Frank to Harry Potter to an Oompa Loompa to Paddington to Miss Honey and many more fantastic characters from their favourite books.
The effort and imagination that went into the outfits was brilliant – everyone looked incredible!
We have lots of fun, book-based activities ahead of us today and we can’t wait to spend the day celebrating our love of reading. 📖✨
The Farm Shop – Nursery
This week we have been playing in our Farm Shop. We have practised naming different vegetables and taken turns at being the customer and shop keeper. We have also practised our mark making skills to write shopping lists.

This half term we are learning about growing plants. As part of our learning we have been finding out about different vegetables this week. We set up a farm shop so the children can practise naming some of the vegetables as well as taking turns to buy and sell. They enjoyed using their developing mark making skills to write shopping lists to use.

Bishop’s Wood Trip Base 11
Today we have enjoyed a thankfully dry trip to Bishop’s Wood Field Work Centre. We have built tents, made straight Roman Roads, learnt some Latin and put on some plays about Roman myths and events. We had a lovely day!
