Creative Curriculum
Watch the this video about the first female aviator Amelia Earhart. To develop your understanding of her further, read through the information pack and complete the quiz. Once you’ve done this, focus on the main events of her life. Click on the link here to find out information and then draw a timeline to plot them. Note: Think about an appropriate scale for your timeline. Would using a scale of one year be appropriate? Make it look interesting by adding an image or drawing next to each event.

Watch this clip which contains footage from Amelia Earhart’s final flight, where she planned to fly around the world. This footage was only recently discovered and gives an insight into this extraordinary expedition. Once you have done this, open the document below which lists the countries Amelia planned to visit on her journey. Click here to open a world map to help you locate them. When you have found them, plot them on your map (see resources). You can print the map or you can download it, save it and use text boxes and shapes to show where the countries are. Note: you will need to label the country and add a dot. As you go, join the dots to show her planned route.

Creative Curriculum
Go through the ‘Pop Art’ PowerPoint and familiarise yourself with this style of art. You will notice the use of repeating images and bold colours. Your task today is to create a ‘Pop Art’ inspired picture of Amelia Earhart. Look at the images of Amelia Earhart and practise drawing portraits of her. Note: keep this simple and remember her iconic flying hat and goggles! Choose your favourite portrait and draw this in each of the nine boxes on your piece of paper. Finally, use coloured crayons/pens, to add colour – remember to vary the colour for each picture. If you do not have coloured pencils/pens at home, don’t worry! You can use dots, lines, zigzags to fill your images and vary these for each one.
