Weekly Timetable
Week Four
|
Each week, you will need to aim to complete the online activities which are set out in the timetable below.
You are all working so hard and we are eager to ensure that we are able to see how you’re getting on each week. To do this, we will look at your activity through different platforms such as Spellzone, Bug Club and My Maths. We will also look at some of the other work set such as a piece of writing and a creative task.
To help us find out how you are getting on we would like you to complete the following as part of your remote learning activity:
- Spellzone: Complete four sessions a week.
- Bug Club: Access one book per week and complete the quizzes as you go.
- My Maths: Complete an assessment which relates to your maths focus for that week.
- Writing: Complete one written task and send this to your class teacher.
- Creative Curriculum: Complete one task and send it to your class teacher.
Your class teacher will respond when the tasks are completed and may get in touch if they need to.

Creative Curriculum
Watch this clip which introduces our explorer for the week, Christopher Columbus. To develop your understanding further, go through the PowerPoint (see resources at the bottom of the page), watch this clip and use this website for more information. Remember to make notes as you go. Once your research is complete, create a report/presentation on Christopher Columbus’ life. Think carefully about the following questions: What was his early life like? Why did he want to travel? Who sponsored him to travel? Where did he want to travel to, and why? What was the journey like? Where did he end up? What happened when he arrived at the island? Did the king and queen reward him? You can choose to present your information whichever way you would like.

Creative Curriculum
Believing he had reached India; the explorer called the natives “Indians.” Stubborn man that he was, he continued to do so even after he found out he hadn't reached India at all. Imagine you are a native, you want to spread the word to other islanders about the arrival of Columbus. What would you tell them? How would you feel about the arrival of Christopher Columbus? Would you be excited, nervous, scared, confused? Why? What is your perception of Columbus? Is he kind, stubborn, not very clever? Explain to your fellow islanders what you plan to do next. Welcome him? Keep away from him? Move away?
These sites will help you to understand how some of the natives may have felt.
