Week Eight 01.03.21

Weekly Timetable

Week Eight

Each week, you will need to aim to complete the online activities which are set out in the timetable below.

You are all working so hard and we are eager to ensure that we are able to see how you’re getting on each week. To do this, we will look at your activity through different platforms such as Spellzone, Bug Club and My Maths. We will also look at some of the other work set such as a piece of writing and a creative task.

To help us find out how you are getting on we would like you to complete the following as part of your remote learning activity:

  • Spellzone: Complete four sessions a week.
  • Bug Club: Access one book per week and complete the quizzes as you go.
  • My Maths: Complete an assessment which relates to your maths focus for that week.
  • Writing: Complete one written task and send this to your class teacher.
  • Creative Curriculum: Complete one task and send it to your class teacher.

Your class teacher will respond when the tasks are completed and may get in touch if they need to.

This year we're really excited to be working with Sarah Oliver, who is an award-winning author. She is famous for her A-Z biographies which are based on famous celebrities and sports personalities. Click here to watch her welcome to World Book Day video.

Once you have watched the clip, you will then need to spend the rest of the afternoon preparing your 'guess who'  head band to share on World Book Day. Along your head band, you will need to provide clues for your chosen author or book. These can we drawn on or added to make it 3D - the more creative, the better!

Work to submit

How do you write a biography?

Click on this link to watch a clip from Sarah Oliver which explains how to write a biography.

Once you have watched the clip, your task is to write a page for our A-to-Z class biography based on a famous person of your choice. Watch this clip which explains how to write one. You can use the template to help you, or if you want to, you can be creative and design your own page too!

Step One:

Include a detailed outline about the famous person with key information.

Consider the following: Who are they? What are they famous for? Where are they from? How many medals have they won? How many famous films have they stared in? Etc..

Step Two

Research your chosen famous person to find five interesting facts. Remember, Sarah Oliver said these should be facts no one/very little people know about. If they won an Olympic medal, most people would know this but if you knew who the first person they phoned afterwards was or what they did to celebrate, this would be interesting for the reader!

Step Three

Finally, add or draw an image of your famous person.
